The short answer
Dial & Lug participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you buy something through a link on this site we earn a commission from Amazon. You pay exactly the same price. Commission is not an input to any ranking on this site.
What we earn from
Dial & Lug is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. Our Associates tag is attached to every Amazon link on this site.
Amazon is currently the only program we earn from. We are not enrolled in any other affiliate network, and we do not build tracked links for programs we have not joined — so if you see a link to a brand's own store on this site, we are earning nothing on it and the page says so.
What it costs you
Nothing. The commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin. The price you pay through a link here is the price you would pay going to Amazon directly.
How to spot an affiliate link
- Every buy button on this site is labeled #ad with a link back to this page.
- Every money page carries a disclosure box above its first affiliate link — not just in the footer.
- Affiliate links carry `rel="sponsored nofollow"` and open in a new tab.
- Links to brands' own stores are labeled "Sold direct by …" and state plainly that we earn nothing on them.
What commission does not change
The order of every ranked list on this site comes from the Keep Score, which is computed from six published specifications. There is no term in that formula for price, and none for commission. The formula and its weights are published so you can check that claim rather than take it.
Two structural facts make it harder for us to be quietly biased than for most sites in this category. First, we hold no inventory — five of the ten competitor pages we analyzed before building this site route readers to their own stock, and three of those disclose nothing at all. Second, we publish a "skip this" pick on every roundup, which is a strange thing to do if the objective were to maximize clicks.
Prices
We do not publish prices we have not verified. Where a live price is not available to us, the button reads "Check price on Amazon" rather than showing a figure that may be weeks or months out of date. Where a figure is shown it carries the date it was checked. Prices change constantly; the retailer's page is always the authority.
Availability
Several watches we rate are sold direct by their makers and are not on Amazon. We name them anyway, because the point of a recommendation is to be right, not to be monetisable. Those links go to the maker, carry no tracking of ours, and earn us nothing.
