Check the footprint before the diameter: 48.1mm lug-to-lug is longer across the wrist than the 42.5mm SRPD55's 46mm. It is the clearest example on this site of why diameter is the wrong number to shop by.

The 39.4mm case reads small, but the 48.1mm lug-to-lug does not — this wears longer than its diameter suggests. Measure your wrist before you buy on the diameter alone.

Sapphire, 200m and an automatic on a steel bracelet, at a price where Seiko is still fitting Hardlex and rating to 100m. On paper nothing else here is close.

And then the gap: Timex names no movement, so no independent can quote a service in advance and nobody knows whether parts will exist in fifteen years. On a mechanical watch bought to keep, that is the whole question, unanswered. The one-year warranty excludes the crystal, strap and case.

Sapphire and 200m for the money is real. What Timex does not publish is the caliber — which means you cannot look up what an overhaul costs before you buy, and that is exactly the number this site exists to check.

The acrylic crystal is the argument: it scratches immediately and comes back to clear with a cloth and paste, forever, for a few dollars.

50m and no named caliber, as above. Buy it because you like it and because the crystal is maintainable, not because you can plan the ownership costs.

Acrylic reads as a downgrade and mostly is not: it scratches easily and polishes out with a cloth and a tube of paste, which sapphire does not. On a watch you intend to keep for decades, that is a feature.

Domed mineral and 30m. As an occasional watch it is excellent; as the one you wear every day it will be defeated by a shower within a few years.

A 44mm lug-to-lug is genuinely small by modern standards, and this is the Bambino to buy if the 40.5mm versions never sat right. The domed mineral crystal is the compromise, and it is the one Orient never fixes on this line.
