Seiko has no titanium field watch at this level. The Khaki Field Titanium is the same H-10 in a 42mm titanium case at 11.45mm thick.

The black PVD coating wears at the edges.

Titanium plus PVD is the combination to think hardest about: the metal underneath is light and hypoallergenic, but a coating is a consumable — once it wears through at the lug edges, it is a refinish, not a polish.

If the question is what costs least over twenty years, it's this: a certified 200m diver on the most widely serviced caliber in the country at a published $176 per overhaul.

Hardlex and 41 hours against Hamilton's sapphire and 80.

Seiko rates this at 200m as a diver's watch, not merely water-resistant — screw-down crown, screw case back, unidirectional bezel. The 45mm figure is misleading: the cushion case has no protruding lugs.

50m is the limit.

No rotor means fewer parts and a thinner case, and the H-50 runs 80 hours on a wind. This is the simplest genuinely good mechanical watch on this site, and simple is what survives.

Hamilton's case against Seiko rests on sapphire as standard, and the Pilot Pioneer Mechanical is the exception: a charming 36mm x 33mm RAF reissue on the same 80-hour H-50 — with a mineral crystal.

Against a Seiko that at least fits Hardlex, it gives up the one advantage the brand is usually sure of.
