Nurses need a watch for a specific, practical reason — counting pulses and respirations against a seconds hand — and wear it through more hand-washing than almost anyone. That makes the job description unusually clear: legible, washable and cleanable. It also rules out the watch most often recommended for it.

Sapphire and 200m mean constant washing and sanitizer are non-events, and the Expedition dial is built to be read quickly.

Put it on a silicone strap for work. Timex does not name the caliber, and the one-year warranty has wide exclusions.

Sapphire and 200m for the money is real. What Timex does not publish is the caliber — which means you cannot look up what an overhaul costs before you buy, and that is exactly the number this site exists to check.
