Buy the BN0200 if you will wear it all day: Super Titanium is lighter than steel and surface-hardened against the scratches raw titanium collects, and it takes a 22mm strap. Buy the BN0150 if you want the same 200m solar diver for less — it is the identical watch in steel, on a 20mm strap.

These two are the same watch. Same 44mm Promaster case, same E168 Eco-Drive, same mineral crystal, same 200m rating, same five-year warranty. Citizen makes one in stainless steel and one in its Super Titanium, and that is the entire decision.

That makes this an unusually clean comparison, because there is no trade to weigh on specification — only the material, the weight that follows from it, and the price difference between them.

How we picked

    Case size, movement, crystal, water rating and warranty. These are the same watch in two materials.

  2. 02Weight

    Titanium is around 40% lighter than steel for the same size. On a 44mm diver that is the difference between wearing it all day and taking it off.

  3. 03Scratch resistance

    Raw titanium is softer than steel. Citizen's Super Titanium is surface-hardened to compensate, which is the whole reason the name exists.

  4. 04Strap width

    22mm on the titanium, 20mm on the steel. Both are even sizes, so straps are easy either way.

  5. 05What neither publishes

    Citizen states no lug-to-lug and no thickness for either reference.

Titanium is roughly 40% lighter than steel for the same volume, and a 44mm dive watch is a lot of volume. Weight is the usual reason a large watch stops being worn, and this removes most of it.

Citizen's Super Titanium is surface-hardened, which matters because raw titanium marks more easily than steel. It also takes a 22mm strap, the most common size there is.

It is the more expensive of the two, and it carries the same mineral crystal as the steel version — the one specification at this price that a rival like the Orient Kamasu clearly beats.

Mechanically indistinguishable from the watch above: the same E168 Eco-Drive, the same 200m, the same five-year warranty and the same 44mm case.

Steel is harder than titanium and holds a brushed finish well, so it takes daily knocks without the softer-metal caveat. On a 20mm strap rather than 22mm.

It is a heavy watch. That is the honest cost of choosing steel here, and on a wrist that already finds 44mm a lot, it is the thing that decides whether the watch gets worn.

The strongest argument for this watch is the one Citizen makes on its own page: nothing to replace, five years of cover. The argument against it is the mineral crystal, which will scratch where sapphire would not.

The Bradner is what gets added to this shortlist by anyone who notices both Promasters use mineral glass and wants sapphire at a similar price.

It is 15mm thick with a published 50mm lug-to-lug, and Spinnaker does not name the caliber inside. That is a substantially bigger watch than either Citizen, on an unnamed movement, for the crystal alone.

If sapphire is the deciding factor, the Orient Kamasu has it at 41.8mm and 12.8mm thick with an in-house automatic.

Sapphire and a stated two-year warranty at this price is a good trade. 15mm thick and 50mm across the lugs is not — this is a big watch, and the spec sheet says so plainly.

What Super Titanium actually is

Titanium's appeal is weight: about 40% lighter than steel, and it does not pull heat out of your wrist the way steel does in winter. Its drawback is hardness — raw titanium scratches more easily than stainless.

Citizen's answer is a surface-hardening treatment it markets as Super Titanium, and it is the reason the BN0200 is not simply a softer version of the BN0150. For the full material comparison, see titanium versus stainless steel.

The mineral crystal on both

Neither watch has sapphire, and that is the specification this site would change first on both. Mineral glass resists less than sapphire and cannot be polished back once marked — on a watch worn for the jobs a 200m diver is bought for, it is the part that will show age first.

It is also why these two sit where they do in our scoring rather than higher. If sapphire matters more to you than either material or the five-year warranty, the automatic dive watches page is the better place to start.

Which to buy

If the watch is going to be worn daily, and especially if you have found large watches tiring before, the titanium is worth the difference — weight is the thing that decides whether a 44mm diver stays on your wrist. If it is a second watch for weekends and water, the steel one is the same watch for less money.

What is the difference between the Citizen BN0150 and BN0200?

The case material. The BN0200 is Super Titanium on a 22mm strap; the BN0150 is stainless steel on a 20mm strap. Movement, size, crystal, water rating and warranty are identical.

Is Super Titanium worth the extra?

For a watch worn every day, usually yes — it is about 40% lighter than steel, and weight is what makes people stop wearing a 44mm diver. For a weekend watch, the steel version is the same watch for less.

Do either have a sapphire crystal?

No, both use mineral glass, which marks permanently. It is the clearest weakness of both watches and the reason the Orient Kamasu outscores them here.

How big is the Citizen Promaster Diver?

44mm across on both references. Citizen publishes neither the lug-to-lug nor the thickness, so try one on if you are near the edge of your comfortable size.
